Version Cake Jump to Story

Ben Willis and Jim Jones co-authored a gem called Version Cake to help you version your API. Basically it allows you to move your versioning down to the view level. The client consuming your api would provide the version number as a http_header, http_accept_parameter, query_parameter, or it will let you extract it however you want using the request object.
