Recently, Oriol Gual and the folks over at codegram realized that what they liked about Cucumber wasn't really Cucumber at all, it was Gherkin, the feature parser behind Cucumber. They ended up writing their own gem called Spinach which uses the parserand allows you to create steps which are encapsulated so you can reuse them in a cleaner way.
