Upload Directly to Amazon S3 with CarrierWaveDirect Jump to Story

Under a standard configuration, CarrierWave (and Paperclip for that matter) will tie up your Ruby process while a user is uploading a file. Once that file is uploaded, your server will manipulate it as necessary, then send it over to Amazon S3. Well, with CarrierWaveDirect by David Wilkie, you can avoid your application all together in the upload, and just have your users upload directly to S3.
