Lumberjack Jump to Story

Lumberjack is a drop in replacement for Ruby's Logger class. It adds a few pieces of metadata, such as the process name and ID that generated the event; most interestingly, there is a 12 digit hex code logged with the statement that represents the 'unit of work', or code scope that generated the log. If you've ever had to dissect a busy log file where several related log statements are scattered because of multiple logging processes, this ID can help you reassemble the logs by process that created them.
